The agency is a new division within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that was established at the end of 2018. It's mission is to help secure the nation's critical infrastructure from physical as well as cyber threats.
In a video interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Cybersecurity Summit in New York, Harrell discusses:
- How the U.S. government is partnering with private industry to protect critical infrastructure;
- The emerging threats that are targeting critical infrastructure;
- How the newly formed CISA is preparing to address growing cyberattack challenges.
Harrell was appointed in December 2018 to serve as the Department of Homeland Security's assistant secretary for infrastructure protection. He now serves as the assistant director for infrastructure security within the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
