Acquiring the New York-based vendor for $490 million will enable Check Point to build a scalable network foundation that extends to thousands of users and put all the different remote access capabilities in the cloud. Shwed plans to infuse Perimeter 81's tool with Check Point's threat prevention technology to give customers a unified architecture and deliver the best solution in terms of performance and ease of use (see: Check Point to Buy SSE, ZTNA Startup Perimeter 81 for $490M).
"Just as we've been leaders in the first few stages of the market of allowing secure remote access, we want to be the leaders with this new architecture," Shwed said. "That triggered us to look at all the technologies in this marketplace, and I think with Perimeter 81, we found the best one."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Shwed also discussed:
- What sets Check Point's take on single-vendor SASE apart from rivals;
- Why Check Point opted to build rather than buy an SD-WAN offering;
