Where are organizations most vulnerable to cyber attack? Through endpoint user devices such as PCs, laptops and desktops, according to 70 percent of survey respondents. Yet, when asked how they rate their organizations' ability to detect suspicious activity on endpoint devices before damage occurs, 52 percent of respondents fall between "average" and "non-existent."

These are among the preliminary results of the 2013 Cyber Security Study conducted by Information Security Media Group and commissioned by Bit9.

A review of this study finds:

  • Of those organizations that acknowledged cyber attacks, the top impacts were:
    • 33 percent - employee downtime/business disruption
    • 32 percent - system downtime
    • 19 percent - loss/compromise of data
  • When asked to rate their organization's ability to protect endpoints and servers from emerging threats, 66 percent of respondents said between "average" and "non-existent."
  • In this session, full survey results will be presented, and then an expert panel will analyze the results and offer advice for how to put this study to work to improve your own organization's cyber security posture.
